The line between ordinary and extraordinary is what many people spend their lives examining. A noble pursuit. However, being exceptional, extraordinary, or achieving any level of greatness is subjective, right? Yes and no.
Cultural success is not subjective, the only objective. If you achieve extraordinary things, no one cares whether or not you believe they are extraordinary. However, some exceptional things are both subjective and objective. Moreover, some culturally great things influence subjectively great achievements. How does this happen?
We are generally always told not to judge ourselves based on other people and or their accomplishments. This is kind of bullsh*t. You need other individuals to move fast and break things to know what to aim for personally. Hence, culturally objective exceptionality influencing subjectively desired greatness.
Once one knows what to aim for and can step foot in the realm of objective greatness, personal aspirations may take the lead which generally passes objective extraordinary skills. This makes said person a mere legend.
Will Smith achieved the exceptional standards of success in our culture but then used that point of greatness to self-propel himself. He always keeps striving to push himself further because there is not many other to aim for in his view of success.
The other problem with personally sought after goals and check-points are that we become immune to our circumstances. Therefore, personal greatness is never really achieved. You will always be chasing another point of personal success because as humans, we are not made to accept our positions in life and sit quietly. We will always pursue more, bigger and better.
Whatever your field of expertise, current capabilities, or present physical abilities are, push forward and expand your human potential. Do not sit still and get comfortable, because comfort is the enemy of the extraordinary.
The journey of finding one’s personal greatness is the journey any man would embark on if they truly knew their own morality.
